The Gecko-YCB is the YCS with the contrast removed. Where the pearl and satin version plays with light and warmth, the YCB goes the opposite direction — black stonewash blade against ceramic carbon fiber scales that read dark and technical at every angle. The result is a knife that disappears visually until you look closely, and then reveals the quality of its materials one detail at a time.
Ceramic carbon fiber is not standard production material. The ceramic surface layer adds hardness and visual depth beyond what carbon fiber alone achieves — the woven pattern sits beneath a surface that holds its finish harder and longer, and has a density in hand that distinguishes it from anything in the mid-range. Against a black stonewash M390 blade the pairing is cohesive and intentional.
M390 at 60±2 HRC is the blade steel specified when edge retention over time is the primary requirement. It outperforms 14C28N and N690 by a meaningful margin in sustained use, sharpens cleanly when needed, and resists corrosion in daily carry conditions. Black stonewash finish adds another layer of surface protection while eliminating any reflectivity — this knife does not announce itself.
Drop point geometry, liner lock, ceramic ball bearing pivot, 3.95 oz. The all-black Gecko for the person who knows exactly what they're carrying and doesn't need anyone else to notice.
