Skarn is named after a metamorphic rock formed under extreme pressure — the kind of material that only exists because something forced it to become stronger. The name is earned.

The blade is M390, Böhler's powder metallurgy steel that sits at the top of the EDC hierarchy. At 60±2 HRC it holds an edge longer than most steels you'll encounter at this price point, resists corrosion in daily carry conditions, and sharpens cleanly when the time comes. The modified tanto profile gives you a reinforced tip for detail work and a long flat edge for general cutting — a genuinely functional geometry, not just a visual choice. The fuller reduces blade mass without compromising rigidity. Thumb stud deployment is smooth and deliberate.

The titanium handle is the other half of the story. The inside-out scale pattern is CNC-machined directly into the frame — it's not a coating or an insert. It reduces overall weight, creates natural grip zones, and gives the handle a tactile quality that flat scales can't replicate. Titanium doesn't corrode, doesn't absorb temperature extremes the way G10 does, and develops a subtle patina with carry.
